"A collective group that advocates for Latina and overall BIPOC literacy exposure while working on dismantling oppression and historically racist language. We also work with incorporating artistic and cultural aspects into our writing which often goes underrepresented or discouraged. "

"I would define Hermanas Escritoras as a strong group of women working to empower others in multiple ways. Firstly, we are helping writers find their true selves and build the skills to let their personalities shine through their words. We are also helping empower those who feel as if their writing isn't "typical" or "correct", but in all honesty, there is no correct way to write; writing is an opportunity to express yourself and your creativity."

Eimy Niño
Leader
B.S. Environmental Engineering
"Hermanas Escritoras is a group that consolidates the Academy and our work in the community. The group's idea is that things can go beyond what science says, and it is that bridge. Here, we discussed different contexts: social, political, academic, environmental, and, most importantly, the role of women. "

"Hermanas Escritoras is an empowering group of Latinx students who want to create a safe space for women in male dominated fields. We aim to make students feel comfortable with their voices, encouraging creativity with writing. We recognize different forms of discrimination exist in all fields and hope to empower others who might face these challenges."

"Hola! I am a cofounder of The Hermanas Escritoras project. I define this group as a lucha, a resistance to white heteropatriarchial standards of writing. It is a making room for our ways of being, language, knowledge, and power. "

"Hi! The Hermanas Escritoras project has been a community for us to share knowledge, resources, and support. Our approach aims to diversify science, foster innovation, and promote equity by elevating marginalized voices and highlighting their scientific contributions."
